Esto que les cuento me sucede con varios programas, y en forma aleatoria. No puedo atribuirlo a calentamiento, o al fallo de un programa en particular. Depende de los dias, los programas trabajan bien o se cierran espontaneamente sin mediar ningun aviso. La pantalla se pone negra, y luego de unos segundos me encuentro nuevamente en el menu donde debo colocar el nombre de usuario para ingresar.
El Nicotine, el Firefox, el XChat se cierran en forma sorpresiva, lo mismo ocurre algunas veces con el XMMS y el Amarok.
He revisado los logs del sistema pero no dicen nada, es como si se hiciera un vacio en los registros en los momentos previos al "cuelgue" y hasta el reinicio.
por ejemplo, este es un volcado del archivo kernel.log, donde se ve la ultima linea del final de sesion y la primera de la sesion siguiente:

El procesador es un Intel Celeron 2.6 GHz, el HD es un Western Gigital de 80 GBs. La placa de video es onboard, chip SIS 630. La placa de audio es una antigua SoundBlaster PCI 128. El SO es Ubuntu 6.10 desktop.
