Problemas con tarjeta de red en Solaris10

Hola...!!!
Instalé Solaris10 en una Laptop Dell Inspiron 1300, no tuve problemas durante este proceso. Pero no se instaló la tarjeta de red, el modelo de la tarjeta de red es Broadcom Corporation BCM4401-B0, cuando ejecuto el comando "ifconfig -a" aparece lo siguiente:

lo0: flags=2001000849<UP, LOOPBACK, RUNNIG, MULTICAST, IPv4, VIRTUAL> mtu8232 index 1 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000

¿Qué debo hacer para que Solaris10 reconozca la tarjeta de red?

Revisé la página... y en las Notas Generales del modelo de mi tarjeta hacen referencia a lo suiguiente:

Download 'bfe' driver for the BCM4401-B0 Network controller at:
http://homepage2.nifty.com/mrym3/taiyodo/eng/

En esa página se puede descargar un archivo comprimido con el driver, al descomprimirlo hay un archivo de texto con las instrucciones para instalarlo... Ahora mi problema es que no entiendo tales instrucciones, para mi son poco específicas... No se qué hacer con el archivo comprimido? Donde lo copio?

Ojalá puedas ayudarme con más detalles para la instalación...

Generalmente lo puedes descomprimir en cualquier ruta de solaris. Si quieres copia y pega las instrucciones aquí y te puedo ayudar un poco más...

De todos modos también copia y pega la salida del comando "prtconf -p"

En el archivo de texto las instrucciones son las siguientes:

1. Introduction

This is the broadcom bcm4401 NIC driver for Solaris. It is distributed
under the BSD license.

2. Specification of the driver

File name of the driver: /kernel/drv/bfe

Special file name:
/dev/bfeN (where N is a unit number, typcally 0 for first card)
For example
% ifconfig bfe0

Tested OS version
Solaris8 00/10 x86, Solaris9 12/02 x86

Tested chips and cards
bcm4401 on GREEN HOUSE GH-WL100BB

3. Preparing for installation

(1) Install your PCI card and boot Solaris.

(2) Copy source and binary files.
# gunzip -cd bfe-x.x.x.tar.gz | tar xf -

(3) Add hostname for the NIC card into the /etc/hosts file

(4) If you have installed bcf driver, remove it and reboot the sytem.
# rem_drv bcf
# sync
# init 0

(5) Make links to correct binary directory and Makefile according to your
configuration. i386 and gcc are default.

% cd /.../bfe-x.x.x
% rm obj Makefile
% ln -s Makefile.${KARCH}_${COMPILER} Makefile
% ln -s ${KARCH} obj

where ${KARCH} is the result of `isainfo -n`, and ${COMPILER} is
"gcc" or "suncc" which you want to use to make the binary of the driver.

(6) Making binaries (only for sparc platform)
Bcf driver is ready for 64bit and 32bit solaris8 10/00 sparc or
later. (But currently it isn't tested on sparc platforms.)
This distribution does not include sparc binaries. To make the binaries,
you need Sun C compiler or gcc version 3, and do the following operations.

% /usr/ccs/bin/make

4. Testing
Testing before installation is strongly recommended.

# cd /.../bfe-x.x.x
# /usr/ccs/bin/make install
# ./adddrv.sh
# /usr/ccs/bin/make uninstall (for Solaris7, do not execute this )
# modload obj/bfe
# devfsadm -i bfe ( for solaris7, use drvconfig and reboot with -r option )
# ifconfig bfeN plumb ( where N is unit number, typcally 0 for first card)
# ifconfig -a ( you will see an entry for bfe0, ensure ethernet address is correct)
# ifconfig bfeN HOSTNAME
# ifconfig bfeN ( ensure IP address is correct)
# ifconfig bfeN up ( and then you can test with ping, telnet, ftp ...)

5. Installation
After you ensure that the bfe driver is fully functional, install it.

(1) install the bfe driver into kernel directory
# cd /.../bfe-x.x.x
# /usr/ccs/bin/make install

If you did not test bfe driver yet, execute the following commands:
# ./adddrv.sh
# devfsadm -i bfe ( for Solaris7 use drvconfig and reboot with -r option )

(2) Configure the network interface. Create and/or modify the following files:
/etc/hostname.bfeN

If you want to use bfe with dhcp, you need to create a empty file
below to get an assigned IP address automatically from a dhcp server
at boot time.
/etc/dhcp.bfeN

(3) Reboot the system.
# init 6

Bien yo creo que las instrucciones están bien explicadas. Si hay algo que no entiendas en el proceso de instalación pregúntalo, porque son demasiados pasos para ir uno por uno. Esa parte de desintalar el driver bcf no hace falta que la pongas en práctica, solo el resto, es decir descomprimir el archivo. De todos modos buscaré en internet si existen los binarios de esa tarjeta de red que de seguro es mucho más sencillo de instalar.

Mientras tanto procura instalar esos drivers compilando y siguien a cabalidad las instrucciones que tú acabas de pegar.

Soy bastante nueva en esto, a lo mejor las instrucciones te parecen claras... Pero yo no entiendo...Por ejemplo, el siguiente paso:

Cuando comienzo con las instrucciones, el 1er paso:
# cd /kernel/drv/bfe
/kernel/drv/bfe: no existe

Luego, el siguiente paso:
Copy source and binary files.
# gunzip -cd bfe-1.1.1.tar.gz | tar xf -

Cuando escribo esa línea de comando, muestra el siguiente error:

gunzip: bfe-1.1.1.tar.gz : no such file or directory
tar: tamño de bloques = 0

Descargué el archivo comprimido de Internet y lo guardé en un CD, lo copio al sistema Solaris10? cómo? a dónde?

Veo que no tienes experiencia alguna en unix, a ver debes empezar a manejar comandos básicos como mkdir para crear la carpeta bfe, por ej. "mkdir /kernel/drv/bfe" y en esa carpeta copias el archivo que te acabas de bajar.

¿Porqué quieres instalar solaris y no linux que es más asequible para tus conocimientos?

En mi trabajo se utiliza un servidor Sun con Solaris10, he querido instalarlo en una Laptop para practicar un poco.. Pero una vez instalado, tengo problemas con la tarjeta de red...

Comence creando el directorio 'bfe' y copiando el archivo comprimido 'bfe_1_1_.gz' ..... Seguí con los pasos de la instalación:

# gunzip -cd bfe_1_1_.gz | tar xf -

Luego en el archivo 'hosts' agregué el hostname... Y seguí con la instalación:

# cd /kernel/drv/bfe/bfe-1.1.1
# rm obj Makefile
# ln -s Makefile.i386_gcc Makefile
# ln -s i386 obj

# cd /kernel/drv/bfe/bfe-1.1.1
# /usr/ccs/bin/make install
/usr/sbin/install -f /kernel/drv -m 755 -u root -g sys i386/bfe
new owner is root
i386/bfe installed as /kernel/drv/bfe
# ./adddrv.sh
Cannot find module (bfe).

¿Cuál es el problema? Por favor, puedes ayudarme??

Si sólo es para aprender, puedes ahorrarte problemas de incompatibilidad de hardware usando una máquina virtual. Hay muchas para probar.

La verdad no veo porque no encuentra el módulo si aparentemente con el make install ya lo has instalado. ¿Has probado a reiniciar la máquina despues de instalar el módulo (driver) de la tarjeta.

Sin embargo coloca aquí despues de reiniciar el output del comando prtconf, a ver si ya lo reconoce. También coloca a salida del archivo /etc/path_to_inst .

Mira a ver si ejecutando el comando "devfsadm" y reiniciando con "reboot -- -r" consigues que el SO te reconozca el dispositivo porque no veo aun el modulo por ahi cargado.

Ya probé los comandos que indicaste... Y nada...

Cuando sigo con las instrucciones de la instalación, muestra el mismo error:

Cannot find module (bfe).

Es raro lo que me pasa pero al abrir los archivos en windows me aparecen unos errores, no sé si estan relacionados con que estan completos esos archivos. Por lo que veo debe ser un error a la hora de guardar los archivos porque no entiendo qué puede pasar.

No sé qué más te puedo ayudar, pero investigaré un poco más, desafortunadamente no tengo donde isntalar solaris para intel, tenemos más de 40 servidores sun pero todos son sparc... sin embargo seguiré investigando, porque cuando alguna vez instalé solaris 9 en intel simplemente bajé un driver binario y lo instalé sin tener que compilar.

Antes de instalar Solaris10, tenía instalado el Sistema Operativo Ubuntu 7.04, luego Windows XP (con licencia), y funcionaba bien la tarjeta de red, tenía conexión a Internet; claro que para Windows XP tenía que hacer aparte la instalación de los drivers del CD original..

holas a todos, yo tambien he estado tratando de instalar los drivers de una tarjeta de red D-link DWA-510 me baje los drivers de linux he estado tratando de compilarlos para solaris he seguido todos los pasos y llege al momento en que hago
/usr/ccs/bin/make install /usr/sbin/install -f /kernel/drv/ -m 755 -u root -g sys amd64/dwa
y me sale el siguiente error

make wrning Ingnoring DistributeMake -m option
