Tengo instalado en mi laptop una HP G42-161LA Uuntu Lucid Lynx actualizado de Karmic Koala, todo estaba bien hasta que instale el startup manager para gestionar el GRUB2 graficamente. Cuando cambié la profundidad de color y la resolución (dentro de las opciones del Startup Manager) creo que fué cuando empezó el problema, ya que al reiniciar ya no saliá ni texto ni el Splash de Ubuntu, se quedaba en negro o morado y no se podía hacer nada.
Traté de usar el live cd y restaurar el archivo de /boot/grub/grub.cfg y nada de nada seguía todo igual, tuve que instalar otro ubuntu para poder entrar a este que falla. Puedo entrar ya pero ya no sale el splash ni el texto de los sucesos que van pasando sigue poniéndose en negro y con "manchas" hasta arriba y después salta a la pantalla de inicio de sesión ya normal.
Esto también afecta a las terminales que accedes con Ctrl + Alt + F1,2,3,4,5,6 en ninguna sale el texto solo las manchas hasta arriba.

P.D.: Traté de regresar lo que le moví al Startup Manager pero sigue sin funcionar.
