Ayuda con el grub por favor!!!!!

bueno mi problema es este: particione mi disco duro y en un particion primero instale windows xp y en la otra instale el ubuntu 8.04 hardy, el problema es que ya que tengo instalados los dos sistemas operativos, inicio mi maquina y el grub no me muestra windows y la verdad no se que hacer miren mi fdisk -l tengo esto:

la verdad he intentado modificar el menu.lts del grub pero cuando intento iniciar windows me dice que no existe la unidad que yo le informe al grub. Si alguien pudiera ayudarme se los agradeceria por favor!!!!!!!! que agrego al menu del grub??????

No veo entrada para Windows en el /boot/grub/menu.lst. Las líneas precedidas de una almohadilla (#) son ignoradas, por lo que deberías quitar las susodichas en las siguientes líneas:

Asegúrate de que guardas los cambios. Para editar ese archivo necesitas privilegios de administrador, así que tendrás que hacer uso de SUDO:

sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

ya quite las almohadillas pero al querer iniciar con windows me dice que invalid device requested, es decir, o creo que como tengo a windows en el sda5 pues no funciona con (hd0,0) no se como indicarle al grub que windows esta en esa particion, por que me supongo que el hd hace referencia a otro tipo de disco duro y el mio es Sata y ademas esta en la particion 5 y no se que hacer gracias por tu ayuda

Haber empezado por ahí. Yo había dado por sentado que el sistema estaba instalado en /dev/sda1. Vas a tener que usar map para hacer creer al sistema que la primera partición es la segunda, y la segunda es la primera.
