abrir un archivo de texto con GTK

hola, intento abrir un archivo de texto con GTK y no funciona, no me da error ni nada, carga la pantalla, simplemente no abre el archivo de texto. no sé que pueda ser, por favor ayudenme.

quita el arroba para que te muestre el error en la salida de la consola:
$filename = fopen($texto, 'r');

y porfavor, reporta el mensaje para que un moderador lo mueva al subforo de php-GTK

!!!, no necesitas fopen para usar file_get_contents, sólo pásale la ruta del archivo, aunque por el error anterior quiere decir que no lo consigue.

supongo que php maneja las rutas relativas de igual forma cuando se ejecuta un script GTK, ¿el archivo está en el mismo directorio?: intenta una ruta absoluta, ¿el archivo está abierto en otro programa que lo proteja contra abertura?: ciérralo

si funciona con ruta absoluta.

pero como lo hago si uso un boton examinar para buscar y leer el archivo?

lo acabo de probar y me funciona perfectamente con rutas relativas, se supone que ambos archivos deben estar en el mismo directorio (el de php y el txt) :
