Fecha archivo

Hola

como puedo leer la fecha de un archivo contenido en un directorio del servidor.

Postee una pregunta similar hace unos meses, donde me respondieron que usase
FOS: DateLastModified

Me postearon un link, que no me funciona.No se donde buscar documentación.

NOTA: soy programador PHP.
