Archivo htaccess (Error al intentar cambiar la configuración)

Hola.

Cambié el nombre del archivo htaccess.txt por .htaccess por el tema de las URLs amigables y demás. Pero una vez cambiado, vi que el servidor donde se aloja la web no permite este uso. Así que volví a renombrar el archivo a .txt. Y ahora cuando intento hacer un cambio en la configuración de la web a través de "Configuarción global" me sale el siguiente mensaje:

¡Ha ocurrido un error! ¡No es posible abrir/escribir el archivo de configuración!

¿Cómo puedo solucionarlo?

Mira en el directorio general por FTP la ficha configuration.php, abrila con el editor y modifica en la linea donde dice .

var $sef = '1';
var $sef_rewrite = '1';
var $sef_suffix = '1';

...en vez de 0 tienes que poner 1 como vees.

luego mira que los permisos para para .htaccess sea en 644
lo de configuration.php en 444


así tendria que ser la ficha .htaccess
