Convocatoria a presentar productos de contenido digital, utilizando Internet o Multimedia, para
someter como propuestas al WORLD SUMMIT AWARD lo mejor del e-contenido y creatividad de Guatemala. En el marco de la realización de la cumbre mundial de la Sociedad de la Información, WSIS http://www.itu.int/wsis/, a realizarse en Ginebra, Suiza del 10 al 17 de diciembre del 2003, se realizará la premiación a la selección de ejemplos de mejores practicas en el desarrollo de contenido electrónico y creatividad en 8 categorías http://www.wsis-award.org.
Para poder participar cada país debe proponer un producto en cada categoría, por lo que se hace necesario hacer una selección previa a la fecha limite establecida por el concurso, por lo que se solicita a quienes deseen proponer un producto me hagan llegar su información para evaluación, como máximo el 16 de septiembre, a [email protected], con copia a [email protected].
Por favor indicar en el asunto (subject) WORLD SUMMIT AWARD EVALUATION.
En el contenido del e-mail completar la siguiente información, debe estar completa para ser tomados en cuenta:
1) Nombre y Apellido de la persona a contactar para solicitar información adicional.
2) Categoría en la cual propone el producto (ver abajo listado de categorías)
3) Titulo en ingles del producto.
4) Titulo en el idioma original del producto.
5) Indicar en que plataforma esta desarrollado el producto (ver información abajo sobre plataformas)

CATEGORIES
Each Expert shall enter 8 products, one for each of the following categories. Several nominations for one category will not be accepted.
1. e-Learning
Serving the needs of learners to acquire knowledge and skills for a complex and globalizing world; transforming schools, universities and other educational institutions through interactive, personalized and distributed learning resources; creating active e-learning communities and target models and solutions for corporate training, supporting first steps in multimedia.
2. e-Culture
Preserving and presenting cultural heritage in line with the challenges of the future; demonstrating valuable cultural assets clearly and informatively using state-of-theart technology.
3. e-Science
Fostering global collaboration in key areas of science, and the next generation of infrastructure that will enable it; providing measures to promote and demonstrate scientific processes and make them accessible to citizens; scientific projects articulated through new media.
4. e-Government
Empowering citizens and serving public services clients; fostering quality and efficiency of
information exchange and communication services in governmental and public administrative processes; strengthening participation of citizens in information society decision making.
5. e-Health
Developing the consumer-centered model of health care where stakeholders collaborate, utilizing ICT, including internet technologies to manage health issues as well as the health care system.
6. e-Business
Support and optimization of business processes; creation of new business models in e-commerce and m-commerce, business to business, business to consumers, internet security and other areas; supporting SME’s on the marketplace.
7. e-Entertainment
Supplying digitized entertainment products and services; entertaining the user in this world's variety of languages and its cultural diversity; supporting movement from one-way to two-way, from single to multiple player, interactive entertainment and the synergy between analog and digital platforms.
Special Category: e-Inclusion
All measures supporting IT integration of least developed countries into the Information Society.
Reducing the "digital divide" between technology-empowered and technologyexcluded communities and groups - such as rural areas and women. Bridging society through multimedia.
PLATFORMS
The products/applications shall be stored on/served over a cartridge, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, intranet, extranet, the World Wide Web (the Web) or enhanced mobile networks.
Each of the nominated products can be developed on the following platforms.
1. broadband / online
2. offline / DVD, CD-Rom or video materials
3. mobile content
4. games platforms
5. interactive TV
6. cross media
If your product is used in kiosk, we are able to navigate through it using a mouse, rather than a touch screen.
CRITERIA FOR NOMINATIONS OF PRODUCTS
The selection of the products/applications shall be based on following criteria:
1 Quality and comprehensiveness of content
2 Ease of use: functionality, navigation and orientation
3 Value added through interactivity and multimedia
4 Attractiveness of design (aesthetic value of graphics/audio)
5 Quality of craftsmanship (technical realization)
6 Strategic importance for development of Global Information Society, such as accessibility of the websites/content; taking in account the issue of the content gap etc.
LANGUAGE
- The product, project or application and the user interface may be in any language used in the United Nations member states.
- However, all registration information provided by the expert and producer (such as description of the project, CV’s) must be in English.
IMPORTANT: Deadline for completing the online registrations (from both expert and producer) is
September 27th. Therefore, we request that the members of the Expert Panel proceed with their nominations as soon as possible and to complete them online by September 20th at the latest so that producers still have enough time to complete the registration.
