Hola caleño, yo tube un problema similar y el error estaba en la mala configuración de los archivos C:/Apache2/conf/httpd.conf (el path según tu configuración, donde tengas instalado el Apache) y C:/Apache2/phpmyadmin/config.inc (este último archivo ábrelo en dreamweaver y busca donde están los passwords (líneas 84 y 135)...

Ha se me olvidaba... lo mejor para administrar el mysql es el phpmyadmin... bájalo
