Subiy y abrir Archivos Office 2007

funciona de la siguiente manera:
Al subirlos o guardarlos en el servidor, designo una carpeta con los permisos necesarios para guardarlos físicamente.

Adicionalmente en la BD guardo solamente la ruta donde estan esos archivos, y una descripcion adicional.

En el sistema genero un listado de esa tabla y muestro el nombre del archivo, a ese nombre le asigno un link que apunta al archivo físico y al hacer clik el navegador abre el archivo.

Todo esto funciona perfectamente para archivos pdf, xls, doc, ppt, jpg, etc. incluso cuando subo los archivos xlsx, docx, pptx lo hace bien, pero al tratar de abrirlos como los demás sale un error. voy a pegar el texto del error.
