En el boton OK en tu LOGIN puedes guardar el nombre del usuario antes de mostrar el FORM PRINCIPAL, osea:
'FORM LOGIN
strUsuario=trim(txtUSERNAME.text)
frmMAIN.SHOW
Entonces en el LOAD del FROM PRINCIPAL
'LOAD FROM PRINCIPAL
StatusBar1.Panels(5).Text = "Usuario:" & strUsuario
Como dices, debes tener a "strUsuario" como una variable global, preferiblemente en un modulo
