Me acabo de topar con este problema y por si a alguien más le pasa a mi me funcionó de la siguiente manera (explorer):
Código PHP:
$title="Primera línea \n Segunda línea";
$title= htmlentities($title);
Obviamente despues el $title va donde corresponde en el html
