Modo Bridge!!

Estimado After:

Thank you for contacting 2Wire Customer Support. The following is intended to answer your inquiry:

The mode that your friend has their 2Wire gateway in is called bridge mode, I have included the instructions for placing the gateway into bridge mode, but bear in mind that you would then need a device on your network to handle the authentication session.

These directions for enabling bridging mode are to only be used by customers with the prior knowledge that any configuration issues or problems that arise during the use of bridging mode are not supported. 2Wire Technical Support can only support a HomePortal when it is fully functioning as a router.
By disabling routing e.g. using “Bridge Mode” you will have deliberately turned off all firewall functionality.

1. Clear the HomePortal to Factory State –can be accomplished two ways

a. MDC

i. Go to http://gateway.2wire.net

ii. Click on Resets

iii. Click on Reset to Factory State

iv. Click Continue

b. Press Hardware Reset button with paperclip

i. Unbend a paperclip

ii. Insert paperclip into recess for Hardware Reset button (outlined with Red circle) on back of HomePortal.

iii. Hold paper clip in for ten (10) full seconds

2. Go to http://gateway.2wire.net/mdc and click on Configure under Broadband Link

3. Enter VPI 0 and VCI 35

4. Click on Disable PVC Search

5. Set Connection Type to Direct IP

6. Click Submit/Save

7. Go to http://gateway.2wire.net/mdc

a. Click on Configure Services

b. Uncheck Enable Routing

c. Click Submit

When the Homeportal is in Bridge Mode it no longer performs any functions such as managing your PPPoE connection. If your Internet service provider uses this type of authentication then you will need to configure the 3rd party router to manage that for you.
